Playing basketball is something most people love. If you love basketball then listen to this article. First of all the IU women's basketball team is just better than the IU men’s, I'm not saying they are bad, I'm just saying that they could be better. The IU women’s team this year has been doing awesome. If you disagree that the IU women’s team is better just listen, I might change your mind.
The IU women’s basketball team is ranked number 1 and the IU Men’s are ranked number 21 in the NCAA. That tells you that the women's team works together better or is just a better team all around. The womens are ranked 1 in the big ten. The women’s pulled off a great season. They were in the NCAA tournament. Sadly both the mens and womens teams lost against Miami. The women's final score was 70-68, Miami only won by a basket. The men's final score was 85-69. The mens had one point on the women's game but the mens defense wasn’t nearly as good as the womens.
The men's team has 881 defensive rebounds their whole season, but Trayce Jackson-Davis has the most defense rebounds on their whole team. Trayce Jackson-Davis has 255 defense rebounds his whole 2022-2023 season. The women's team has 841 defense rebounds and Mackenzie Holmes has the most defense rebounds with 163, even though the mens have more defense rebounds the womens have more people with more than 100 defense rebounds. (5 people) The men only have 3 people, plus all the women's have at least one or more defense rebounds and the mens only have 14 people on their team that have at least one defense rebound. The men's team should have an advantage over the women's because they have more men that play on the team then the women do on their team. ( The men have 17 players and women have 14 players.)
The women have 81.5 percent of points per game when the mens have 75.0 percent. According to www.espn.com the best player for the mens is Trayce Jackson-Davis and the best player for the womens is Mackenzie Holmes. The womens have a better strategy for stealing. They have 244 steals all season and the men have 190 steals all season. Bella Bennett thinks the IU women's is better because, " they have won so many more games, and also I basically only go to the Women's Games.” The women's have had a few more wins then the men like Bella says. The women's final record is 28-4 and the men's is 23-12. The women's team have one 5 more games and the men's have had more games then the womens which means the men's could have 31-4 if they had the same number of losses as the womens but they have 12 losses.
After looking at the team stats, rankings and their overall season this year, the IU women's team has out performed the men's team. They have also shown how well they work as an entire team overall. Yes, they have players that stand out, but they wouldn't have had such a successful season if every team member hadn't contributed. The women's team does a great job of recognizing every player they have and letting their strength show. The men's team seems to only focus their entire games around one or two of their top players. This to me shows that the IU women's team is better!
