Do you think cheerleading is a sport? Well I do. I want to get to the bottom of this. 3 people are going to be interviewed to see what they have to say. Are you curious to see what they're going to say? Well, I sure am! The internet thinks that,For the first time in Games history, Competitive Cheerleading will be featured at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games. This sport consists of two events with over 150 athletes! Athletes will be able to showcase their skills in their routine with cheers, stunts, and spirit!
Jack Grubaugh He is a 6th grade boy and he thinks cheerleading is considered a sport and this is his reasoning. “Yes, because they are doing interactive things and such and you are doing exercise and you are connected.” Does he think more people should take it as a sport? “No because, people have their opinions.”
Aiden Williamson is a sixth grade boy and he thinks cheer is kind of a sport. He thinks competitive cheer is a sport and school cheer is not. He thinks that Competitive cheer is a sport because “You're actually going against teams and battling it out.” He thinks school cheer isn't a sport because “ You're not really going against anybody and you're cheering for a different sport.” Do you think that more people should call competitive cheer a sport “Yes, because there are lots of ways to be active.” Do you think people should stop calling school cheer a sport? “No, because people can think what they want.”
Ava Burnworth is a sixth grade girl and she thinks that cheer is a sport “Yes, because cheerleading is nationwide and lots of people are hard working cheerleaders.” Do you think that more people should call it a sport? ”Yes, because it is just as competitive as any other sport and should at least be considered a sport.”
After interviewing, I've concluded that this school cheerleading should be called a sport because what I've concluded out of my interviews is that people do think cheer is a sport for quite a few reasons: one you are interactive, two you do exercise, three you are connected and four it is nationwide. But my opinion states that cheerleading should be a sport because one, you have to try out and actually make the cheer team and two, you have to earn skills and be able to throw someone your size above your head.
