Possible TikTok Ban

TikTok is a popular app used by 150 million Americans. A lot of people use TikTok for their businesses, as a job, or even just for fun. But with a lot of people enjoying this app, a lot of Americans are against it. Currently, lawmakers in Congress are trying to ban TikTok. Why are they banning TikTok and what will even happen if it does get banned?
So, what will even happen if it gets banned? Well, TikTok would get taken off of app stores and the updates for the app will be turned off. If you already have the app on your device then it will stay on your device. There are also many businesses that use TikTok for advertisement or even to get orders for their products who might have a negative outcome. According to Tiktok.com, TikTok is a good marketing tool for certain brands. So what would even happen without this advertisement?Ā

Most people might wonder why the US government wants to even ban TikTok in the first place? Well the main concern is the data of the American users on the platform. The US government believes that the Chinese government could have access to the American user data. The CEO of TikTok has told the US that they have never and would never share the American data stored on the app to the Chinese government. The CEO has also said that the company ByteDance is not an agent for China.
Even though the US still wants to ban TikTok, the company has proposed a 1.5 billion dollar project called Project Texas. Project Texas is a project where all the American data can be stored in an American software giant known as Oracle. This plan makes it so that the access to Americanās data would be managed by US employees.Ā
