Have you ever had to stay off of something? Like social media or video games? A lot of kids have to do this because they either got grounded or have to play outside, but Ms. Jones had a different idea. A challenge that would have a prize if you stay off social media.
Ms. Jone's 8th and 4th periods have decided to take on the challenge. But it's not like you have to stay off of your phone; you are allowed to text and call your friends but the limit is about 1-20 minutes, so that would give you enough time to get that quick call in. How did this start? From my understanding, Ms. Jones said, “It came out of current events class because of TikTok. We have had discussions about social media and thought about how it could get better.” So then the social media challenge was born.

How would this make an impact on your students? “They will learn valuable studies and wording of questions and collecting and analyzing data," said Mrs. Jones.
Now let's see the student perspective. Kelly Douhue, do you think this challenge has impacted you and your screen time? “No, I'm not on social media much,” said Kelly. How is this impacting the whole class? “It might make them a little mad.” Let's hear from another student Anderson Georges. Do you think this challenge has impacted you and your screen time? “Yes, because I don't get to be on it as much” How is this impacting the whole class? “Making people not get on their phone because of the prize.”
Now you might be asking, what's the prize? There are many possibilities such as a pizza party, a tv, or even a new car but they still haven’t decided on the prize this challenge is making an impact on these students and possibly many people.
