As most people know, anyone playing football puts up the risk of traumatic injury. It's just the way the game rolls. But the problem is, does the NFL need to make changes? Is the NFL too dangerous to play?
The recent Damar Hamlin injury has sparked the question, is the NFL dangerous? In the past the NFL has tried to prevent injuries and keep a close eye on people who try to cause problems for the players, and even though they do this it still is quite common for the players to be injured. While the NFL has come a long way from where they were the problem is still there and on going.
The NFL came out with a list of people who have gotten hurt while playing and have been and will continue to be out for a while. Whilst Damar’s case is the one that sparked the conversation, a lot of people don’t realize that it's been going on for a long time and recognize that there are so many others that have been affected by these dangerous conditions. Like one of the bigger ones with Kyler Murry where he tore his ACL barely doing anything.
In the past 20 years they have had an extreme change in the rules like, expanding the mouth guard and making sure their physical health keeps up to the NFL’s standards. Which does help when it comes down to keeping in shape physically but that’s not all that they need. Mentally keeping in shape is just as important as keeping your muscle intake up because football is about being physically active and so is happy and mentally healthy.
Another thing most people are soon coming to a realization of is the fact that even though they do have a season off they are still working them the whole time and making them stay on the field. Spontaneous physical activity and even continued physical activity is ok but keeping people on the field for extended periods of time can be dangerous. They could die/ be seriously injured if they make them stay out in the heat for long periods of time. Even with water.
So in conclusion the facts are here to prove that in many ways the NFL is dangerous and could cause serious traumatic injuries. So what do you think? Is the NFL too dangerous? Should the athletes keep playing in these conditions?
