Have you ever found something hidden before? Well today we are going to talk about a hidden corridor that was found in the Great Pyramid of Giza! This article will tell you about how they found it, the technology they used and about the pyramid of giza. I hope you enjoy it.
About the Pyramid
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the largest Egyptian pyramid and the tomb of the fourth dynasty pharaoh Khufu, built in the 26th century. It is 481 feet tall and was given the name the tallest man made structure for 3,800 years. Over sometime the pyramid dropped some height which left it to 454 feet. The pyramid was made with limestone blocks, there were 2.3 million limestone blocks to build the
Pyramid.
Finding the corridor
Although you might have thought people just walked upon the corridor, sadly you are wrong. The hidden corridor was found on march 2nd by using cosmic-ray radiography, they stuck a 6mm thick endoscope from Japan in a hole in between stones and found a 30 feet long room. “ I think that it's really cool and talented that they found that.” -Jadalynn Rodriguez. In 2017 Scan pyramid researchers announced the discovery of a void at least 30 meters long in the Great Pyramid of Giza which may be what's in there? ”The unfinished corridor was likely created to redistribute the pyramid's weight around either the main entrance now used by tourists, almost seven meters away, or around another as yet undiscovered chamber or space,” said Mostafa Waziri, head of Egypt's Supreme Council of Antiquities.
All about technology
There are a lot of cool gadgets they used so let's get to know some. Muon radiography is a technique that uses information on the absorption of cosmic ray muons and measures the thickness of materials and also helps detect the structure of a large structure. Another material they used is a 6mm endoscope from japan. Endoscopes are a long wire with a camera attached which in some cases can be used for medical procedures and are good to get in small spaces, they used the endoscope to get photos of the secret corridor.
