The Indy Zoo has many fun activities to do during many holidays (Example: Christmas, Halloween). From the zoo boo to even christmas at the zoo. They have tons of lights and make sure that the Christmas spirit is around! Christmas at the zoo is coming up, in fact it's already started!
This event happens November 18 to December 30. Even though it is christmas at the zoo, it is not open on Thanksgiving and also Christmas eve and day. Since it is winter and very cold the animals will not be out the entire day. This led to the zoo only opening it at the times 5pm to 9pm. Something cool about this event is that in 1967, the Indianapolis Zoo was the first zoo in the nation to hold a holiday lights event. Callie Beyers, a 6th grade student at EJHS, who has been to this event says, “It is so bright I love it so much. There is also some more information for this topic. This event doesn't just have bright colorful light but much more too! One thing that stuck out to me was that the dolphin show will still be open! They added many cool things to it. When the dolphin show happens it won't be like the usual show; it will be themed to christmas, they will be playing the zoo version of 'Twas the Night Before Christmas.
This is 'Twas the Night before Christmas at the zoo.
This is one of the many decorated trees at the zoo.
Even if some people have not been, the word has been spreading. ZZ Welding said, “I have heard that it is very pretty.” It probably isn’t just ZZ that has heard of this event. There are also people like Maddison Shaw, a 6th grade student in EJHS who thinks it would be really cool. Maddison Shaw said, “It sounds really cool to see…”
When going to the Indy Zoo, there are no dippin dots. Instead there are smores! Many people remember this detail of getting dippin dots at the zoo but this time it's smores at the zoo, but what if I told you it's not just the smores for this event. Because It's not just smores! At the zoo they decided to add something special to the food! They added a Mrs. Claus cookie shop! Julia Schliesser, a 6th grade student at EJHS has been and said, “...the set up was super cute, especially the Mrs.claus cookie shop!...” Yes, you heard all that right! From November 18th to December 30th, there will be cookies at the zoo! Not only that but you can decorate the cookies!
With all that being said it is a great event and worth your money! Many people (including me) in this article have proved that it is great or that they've heard great things about it!
This is a big light sign at the zoo for people to see.
