Some people say that secret santa is overrated or it’s just for kids but is it really? Some of the teachers at the school think that it would be a fun surprise but with a twist. And here are the rules of it: Members of a group of friends, family, or coworkers draw random names to become someone's Secret Santa. The Secret Santa is given a wish list of gift ideas to choose from to give to their chosen giftee. After opening their present, the giftee has to guess which member of the group was their Secret Santa. Secret santa is also like white elephant and here are the rules for it: you sit in a circle and place the gifts in the center, preferably under a festive tree. The person who drew 1st selects a gift from the pile, opens it, and holds it up for all to see. The person who drew 2nd decides whether to steal that gift or unwrap a mystery present from the pile.
Mrs.Beeman is a 7th grade math teacher who has some good thoughts about this idea. She said that secret santa is a fun way to connect with others but at the same time it can get very stressful for teachers, because you have work to do and you also have to think about your own family too. And I agree I am no teacher though so I don’t really know what it is like.
Some people that do secret santa with their family have a lot of fun with it. But this person doesn’t Mr.Anspaugh , a 6th grade teacher at EJHS said this, “When it comes to the holidays I am kind of a grinch, I don’t like the gift giving culture.” Maybe you're thinking about how many people can do this fun activity? It doesn't really matter if you have an even or odd number of people doing this. It is not guaranteed that you won’t know who your person is but if you don’t know, just do not try to find out that will take the fun out of it. Mrs. Wells, an eighth grade teacher at EJHS said that yes we should do a secret santa. And that it would be fun.
Mrs. Jones, a 6th grade teacher at EJHS, said something about her thoughts and gifts that different people could give out. She said that she would rather not do a secret santa because it could be hectic and cause too much stress on the teachers. They already have enough stuff to deal with and that would make them have an even bigger responsibility and we don’t need that happening they can’t really take it anymore. They do so much for their students and we don't appreciate it. Mrs. Jones also said, “ It may cost me a few dollars but it brings hope.” She was talking about lottery tickets. Yes, lottery tickets she said are about the hope and thought of the gift and not if they like it or not.
I love the holiday season. It makes me happy and I like that very much. It gets me closer to my family and friends. And I think that family and friends are the true meaning of christmas. So I think that it might be a good Idea.
