Imagine you're trick or treating with your parents. You look somewhere else, then when you look back, your parents are gone. How would that make you feel? Now imagine if your parents weren't there at all, and you were by yourself? You'll be alone, and if you get lost, you could be in a dangerous situation. That's one of the reasons why you shouldn't go Trick or Treating by yourself. I believe that you shouldn’t go trick or treating alone. Firstly, if you can’t see from wearing a mask or it gets too dark, you might fall and get injured, and you won't have your parents near you to help you. My second reason is that the candy you get could be harmful and possibly fatal if you have an allergic reaction or there is something in the candy that makes you sick. Thirdly, people coming back from parties and bars and halloween night are most likely to be drunk drivers and you have a chance to get hit by not having direction given by an adult.

Firstly, if you can’t see from wearing a mask or it gets too dark, you might fall and get injured, and you won't have your parents near you to help you. On an annual average, 3200 injuries were in relation to Halloween, and around 25% of them were from wearing masks with costumes or other things where it causes bad vision. A large part of that 25% was due to falling because they couldn’t see. If that were the case while you were alone, not only does it leave you vulnerable, but it also leaves you without a quick way to get medical treatment. Danielle Miliam, a 6th grade student, says, “ It depends on who it is. If it's one of my friends, I would ask if they could ask their guardian if we could go together, just to be safe.” If you're by yourself, you can't necessarily walk into someone's home to use their phone especially if you dont know them, and you can't really ask anyone either because many people are busy out trick or treating, and some might ignore you because they are busy. This also will leave you helpless by yourself.
Secondly, It could be very dangerous if you have an allergic reaction to the candy. Over 85% of allergic reactions happen on halloween, mostly peanut or other sort of nuts that someone can get an allergic reaction to. It can take as small as five minutes for a reaction to turn severe, and if you have one while you're by yourself and dont have the proper supplies to stop the reaction, you can get seriously injured and in some cases, even die. About 150 deaths are caused per year in the U.S. due to having an allergic reaction to the candy, and while that number may be small, what if you were one of those unfortunate 150 people? Most of those people happen to be minors as well, and kids are the most likely to be in danger on Halloween, and the rates increase significantly when you're by yourself.
My third and last reason is that there are many drunk drivers. 44% of everyone killed in car crashes on Halloween are because of drunk drivers. This could be very dangerous especially for young kids who are distracted and don’t see a car going towards them, and also kids that dont have their parents to warn them. Safety experts have recommended that we keep children and inexperienced drivers off the streets to prevent accidents like these from happening. “It could be very dangerous for young children,” says Alana Armstrong, another 6th grade student. “I would tell them to be careful and keep a defense tool with them.”

In conclusion, I think that trick or treating alone is not safe. Firstly, if you can’t see from wearing a mask or it gets too dark, you might fall and get injured, and you won't have your parents near you to help you. Secondly, you could have an allergic reaction that can get severe without anyone to help and thirdly, there are a lot of drunk drivers that could harm you by potentially hitting you or running you over. With these reasons and more unsaid, you should not go trick or treating by yourself.
