Raymondville Independent School District is committed to addressing the needs of students who are identified as English Language Learners (ELL) and provide an equal educational opportunity for all identified students through Bilingual Education and English as a Second Language (ESL) programs.
Bilingual/ESL Programs will emphasize the mastery of English language skills enabling students to participate effectively in regular classroom instruction and support mastery of the state's curriculum, the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS). This will allow students to reach full potential through equitable experiences which ensure that they become confident, productive and competent members of our multicultural society.
RISD implements the state mandated Transitional/Early Exit Bilingual Education Program as per Chapter 89.1210 of the Texas Education Code. The Transitional/Early Exit Bilingual Education Model is a full-time program of transitional instruction. the amount of instruction in each language (primary and secondary) shall be commensurate with students' linguistic proficiency and academic potential in both languages.
