What's the difference between a hyphen and a dash?
Hyphens are shorter than dashes, and link two words so the word or phrase makes sense.
Dashes separate information and are a type of parenthesis, like brackets.

Semi Colons ;
A semi-colon can be used instead of a full stop between two related sentences. This links them together in a way a full stop doesn't. Ir can be used to make writing clearer and can also break up a list that contains longer phrases.
Here is an example of how it can be used between two main clauses.
Come and see me tomorrow; I will not have time to see you today.
