What is the IBDP?

From the IBO.org website:

"The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a global leader in international education—developing inquiring, knowledgeable, confident, and caring young people. IB programmes empower school-aged students to take ownership in their own learning and help them develop future-ready skills to make a difference and thrive in a world that changes fast.

The IB’s mission is central to its work with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. The aim of all IB programmes is to develop internationally minded people who, recognizing their common humanity and shared guardianship of the planet, help to create a better and more peaceful world. This powerful mission that drives learning informs the development of each IB World School—as well as the IB’s larger global community of students and their families, teachers and supporters. IB World Schools strive to help realize this purpose for learning within their own local, state, national, international and global context.

The IB Diploma Program (IBDP) is a two-year program for students aged 16-19. It is recognized as one of the most prestigious and challenging pre-university programs, accepted in over 3,300 universities in 90 countries. The IBDP is designed to promote international understanding and meet the needs of highly-motivated students by having a metacognitive approach to learning that helps students develop critical and high-order thinking strategies of lifelong independent learners."
