Florida is the nations second largest producer of energy across the United States of America. This means that if Florida were to stop producing energy, the whole nation would suffer.
Florida has already started to move toward renewable energy sources. Their second most used source of power is nuclear energy, followed by solar energy. This has made a huge impact on the environment, as natural gas is not used nearly as much.
So far we have spoken on how Climate Change affects wildlife, but now, let's aim a little closer to home. Because of energy and fuel consumption, "the burning of fossil fuels releases greenhouse gases such as carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, which trap heat and contribute to global warming. This leads to rising sea levels, more frequent and severe storms, and disruptions to ecosystems. Additionally, the extraction and transportation of fossil fuels can cause environmental damage through spills, leaks, and habitat destruction."
In addition in the next 30 years, sea level will increase by 11 inches (on average), and by 2100 many of Florida's bustling and vibrant areas will be submerged underwater.
This is Florida's elevation so far.
And this is what Florida will look like in 70 years. (The blue sections are underwater.) Miami will be completely flooded and Boca Raton will be semi-flooded.
This is why we need help to save our state immediately!
