Fast fashion is slowly but surely killing our Earth. According to Earth.org, the environmental impact of fast fashion comprises the depletion of non-renewable sources, the emission of greenhouse gases, and the use of massive amounts of water and energy. While there have been some improvements recently, there have also been some detrimental things. In 2024, the French Parliament passed a bill banning the advertising of fast fashion, and also established fines for brands producing it (The Boar). SHEIN, a big fast fashion brand, has not shown any signs of stopping. According to the New York Times, Shein leaves about 6.3 million tons of carbon dioxide a year in its trail. Luckily, there are solutions that give us hope for the future. Brands like CoraBall and Petit Pli are doing things to stop or at least slow down the horrible reality that is fast fashion.
Fast fashion harms our environment in many ways. According to Earth.org, the environmental impact of fast fashion comprises the depletion of non-renewable sources, emission of greenhouse gases and the use of massive amounts of water and energy. We discard 92 million tons of textile waste that the industry creates annually! (Earth.org)

SHEIN and other fast fashion companies are also partnering with Tik Tok, because they want influencers to be the face of their brand. (Inside the SHEIN Machine Iman Amrani). Fast fashion can also be attractive because it is very cheap and looks cool.
