Fast Fashion's Cost Impact
The global fashion industry generates billions in revenue, with projections of reaching $2 trillion by 2026. Now, with all this money being spent, you would think these clothes are high quality, but this is wrong. Fast fashion companies prioritize low production costs by exploiting resources and labor, which can lead to hazardous working conditions and unsustainable practices.
While fast fashion may seem super cheap and affordable, us humans end up losing more than the health of our environment, animals, and oceans. We lose a ton of money. As mentioned before, clothing products from fast fashion brands are unbelievably low-quality. After the clothes fall apart, we throw them away, and end up throwing something that was thought to be a low-cost, stylish look after 2 uses.
We are losing so much money because of our desire for more, no matter the possible outcomes. When we see the $7 price tag on a cool new look, we are blinded by it. We buy it, and then look for similar traps. We buy more and more, but also discard more and more. In the end, we end up with less and less.
