The goal of the Rangeley Social Studies Department is to provide training in the critical reading of sources; familiarity with a variety of time periods and geographical regions; familiarity with different historical themes, approaches, and interpretations; familiarity with the foundations of American democracy, rights, responsibilities, and duties of citizenship, political and civic participation, and public policy; familiarity with individual responsibility and the economy, the tools of economic policy in a global economy; experience in research; planning and organizing independent research projects; honing analytical skills; and improving writing skills.

The goal of the Rangeley Graphics Department is to provide training in the art of communicating and clarifying information and ideas to the public. In addition to gaining an in-depth knowledge of digital programs, students also learn about human behavior and cross-cultural communication. The program trains students to work with clients to problem-solve innovative solutions for a wide range of business needs.

My university education was at the University of Vermont in Burlington, where I obtained a BA in Asian Studies. Following graduation, I spent some time traveling in Europe and Asia before studying design at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. As well as my M.S. in Education, I have 5 acres under agricultural production. I have worked as a designer, photographer, technology integrator with MLTI (Maine Learning Technology Initiative), and a ski coach, and have 5 acres under agricultural production. Although I love teaching, I originally wanted to become a researcher. Due to my introverted personality, I imagined I would enjoy working alone. Surfing, hiking, and skiing are some of my favorite activities. Along with cooking, I enjoy listening to music, watching movies, and sports competitions. I enjoy reading and watching epic stories from around the world. As a timber framer and joiner, I cut, mortised, and raised my own house. Additionally, I built a Finnish fireplace that uses 2 cords of wood to heat the house and a pizza oven that makes incredible wood-fired pizza and bread. In the fall, I love making Kimchi and packing my root cellar with my harvest. Hard cider and wine are some of the other products I make myself.
