Joe Clouse is graduating in May of 2020 with a Bachelor's of Science in both Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering from Colorado State University. Upon having ACL reconstructive surgery in high school, Joe decided to pursue these two degrees to enable him to give back to the improvement of health for others. Joe pursued the Spine Phantom project to continue his professional development as he enjoyed working with the Irvine, CA and Boulder, CO locations of Medtronic as a Quality Engineer for two prior summers.
Megan English is in her fifth year studying Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at CSU. Megan will be graduating in May 2020 and hopes to pursue a career in medical devices and instruments. Before college, she was heavily engaged with engineering through her eight years of involvement in FIRST robotics. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school she had fun learning how to design, fabricate, and work with other students on difficult engineering problems. However, her heart was geared more towards the medical field. This dual degree gave her the opportunity to immerse herself in both the fields that interested her. The main reason why she chose the Spine Phantom project is because of her passion in orthopedics and the work she has done specifically with the spine.
Matt Helmreich is in the fifth and final year of a dual degree program at Colorado State University, studying Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. These two degrees appealed to Matt because they combined two of his interests, medicine and engineering. The Spine Phantom senior design project appealed to Matt because of his prior experience working with Medtronic as a Manufacturing Engineer in Boulder, Colorado and as a Design Quality Engineer in Irvine, California as well as his interests in surgical technologies.
Ryan Henry is a graduating senior at Colorado State University studying Biomedical Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Ryan chose this specific dual degree program as a way to combine his passion for healthcare and his love for designing and developing. It was only fitting to try and get on the Spine Phantom senior design team because of previous experience held with Medtronic via their Summer Manufacturing Position in Boulder, CO. Another reason he applied for this particular team is to gain a greater insight on the projects industry may have a hand in.
