Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions about the Commencement Project

Is completion of a senior project a requirement for graduation?

All students graduating from the Renaissance Academy must receive a passing grade on their senior project in order to receive a diploma for graduation.

Why do we start our senior project in ninth grade?

In 9th grade, we ask the students to reflect on their talents, interests, and life experiences. As they go into the summer months, we ask them to think about what they have to offer their community. When they come back to school in the fall, the students are asked to consider what community focus their project will take. The project, although culminating, is designed to complement not interfere with course work load. Time is given throughout the school year to complete project written requirements in class. As the student enters their senior year, they will not only see the project come together but they will realize the growth along the way.

As questions come up, the Senior Project Coordinator will post a response so that everyone will have a chance to become more familiar with the program.
