Commencement Project - Junior Year

The bulk of the project should be completed during the summers before and after the student's junior year of high school.  Students are encouraged to dedicate 40 hours. A community-centered activity can be described as a work experience in a profit or nonprofit organization that will give the student exposure to career opportunities or a personal commitment to better the lives of others.  This experience can range from an internship to community service.  This time is designated outside the academic hours of the school day.   It is the responsibility of the student and his/her parents or guardians to provide transportation to the community-centered activities.   As the project progresses, the student is responsible for keeping an accurate Documentation of Hours with appropriate signatures and encouraged to keep a detailed journal to keep track of reflections and accountability checklist.
