This half term we are focusing on writing narratives that entertain the reader.
We will be using Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as our initial stimulus, focusing on the pupils' journey to Hogwarts and their arrival in The Great Hall. We will use language features to create an image in the reader's mind, guide the reader, understand the characters' thoughts and feelings.
We will also write an 'invented' narrative based on this, however it will be from another character's point of view.
Our second unit will be based on Poetry. We will look at a range of poems, exploring their similarities and differences, and evaluate what we like and would improve about them. The final outcome will be individual poems which are inspired by some of our favourites.
In Maths this half term we are learning about:
Ratio and proportion
Converting between metric units of measure
Converting between metric and imperial units of measure
