This half term we are focusing on writing narratives that entertain the reader.

We will be using Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone as our initial stimulus, focusing on the pupils' journey to Hogwarts and their arrival in The Great Hall. We will use language features to create an image in the reader's mind, guide the reader, understand the characters' thoughts and feelings 

Our second narrative will be based on Harry Potter: The Tale of the Three Brothers. This will focus on building suspense and creating tension.

We will focus on including a range of tools:

• a range of clause structures

• figurative language

• implicit language

• explicit language

• punctuation for effect
