This half term we are focusing on writing to inform, through writing a letter and a police report, as well as writing to entertain through narrative.
Our writing stimulus will be an animated short: 'Alma'.
The letter will be written as a headteacher, to parents, informing them about the potential dangers of children walking home alone.
We will focus on including a range of tools:
the correct level of formality
a range of clause structures
cohesive devices, such as conjunctions and punctuation.
Our police report will focus on
changing between levels of formality
including an interview using direct quotes
Our narrative will be written to entertain the reader; it will build suspense and create tension.
