Texas State Senator Nominations
Each year Senator Cruz has the honor of nominating qualified candidates to compete for appointment to United States service academies. As a member of the Senate Armed Services Committee, Senator Cruz works hard to ensure that we maintain our commitment to all service members, and this begins with helping to identify our best suited future military leaders. Each applicant must complete a thorough application and selection process, ensuring that the most qualified candidates are nominated to lead our service men and women in combat.
Eligibility Requirements:
Candidates who wish to apply for a nomination must meet the following criteria:
Be at least 17 years of age, but not older than 23 by July 1 of the year of admission.
Be a United States Citizen
Be a Legal Texas Resident
By law, graduates of the service academies are appointed to active duty as commissioned officers and serve in the appropriate branch of the armed forces for a minimum of five years.
Applying for a Nomination
Applications for nominations to the Class of 2022 are now open. In order to be considered for a nomination, all candidates must submit the following materials by the Friday, October 6, 2017 deadline. Please note this is NOT a postmark deadline, all application materials must arrive to the Austin office by October 6, 2017:
