BOS Server Learning Centre
Overview
The BOS Server application is an always-connected application that runs on the Server and is used to perform a number of backend services for BOS Professional and BOS Enterprise. Only one instance of BOS Server can run on the Server, but it provides the functionality to connect to multiple databases on the Server or the same network. When BOS Server is started, the Scheduler is automatically started too.
The functionality in BOS Server is powerful and mostly driven by SQL and HTML setups. The following Actions are currently included:
Data Exchange - Used to replicate data between databases that are accessible on the same network or the internet.
File Exchange - The File Exchange action can be used to create and download data to a CSV or XML file or to import CSV or XML files.
Email Notification - E-mail notifications can be sent to Staff, Customers, Suppliers or any other entities in the database that have a linked e-mail address.
Email Import - Import emails into a Firebird database where you are able to parse the Subject and Body to update tables.
Currency Updates - Can be done manually or at scheduled times or intervals.
