‘Today a reader, tomorrow a leader’. Margaret Fuller
English is so much more than what you do in lessons, or what you read in class. In fact, English is everywhere and simply by opening your eyes and your mind, you will find whole new worlds and opportunities open up!
You don’t have to be thinking about undertaking a degree in English. In fact, many universities and employers value an A-Level in English regardless of what subject or job you are applying for because it demonstrates critical thinking, an ability to work independently and a breadth of knowledge.
English is also everywhere: it provides the vocabulary you need to access every subject; it is in the buildings around you, our history, part of our culture and the media we watch every day.
So, if you are the kind of person who wants to become an independent, analytical thinker, the kind of person who can converse fluently, who is perceived as intellectual, knowledgeable and well-read, the kind of person who employers and academics want to enlist, then this is the place for you.
