Students will be sent a materials kit containing the necessary supplies. Kits will be sent out in August before the class starts. Students may periodically need a few other common household items not included in the box (e.g., pencils, paper, colored pencils, etc.).
*Note - By registering for this class, you are reserving a kit, and supplies are limited. If a student withdraws after a kit has been sent, we are unable to offer that spot to another student due to limited materials. Families will be responsible for returning the kit to PEARL.
*Additional Information: This class is supported by a Lumen grant, which allows me to provide materials and hands-on experiences for students. As part of the grant, families may occasionally be asked to share brief feedback or simple updates, which will be quick and easy to complete.
Class Description:
Get ready to bring your ideas to life with Micro:bit! A Micro:bit is a tiny programmable computer that can light up, make sounds, and sense things like movement and temperature. In this class, you will use the Microsoft MakeCode coding platform to learn to code, design, test, and improve interactive projects that respond to the world around you. You will write code and immediately see how it affects a real object, helping you figure out what works, fix mistakes, and keep improving your ideas. No experience is needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try new things. By the end, you will have created your own inventions and think like a real coder and problem solver!
