I began by designing the basic layout of our stage on paper: one with an audience's point of view and one with a bird's eye view. Once I completed my initial sketches, I moved them over to a digital platform. By doing so, I was able to copy the original setup and just add what was needed for each set change. I also sketched out the moving/stagnant props we had with measurements so that we could better plan for choreography and blocking.
Pits:
There are two identical pits made of cardboard with bricks decorated on the front. On the back, they have a "pop-up jail" made of wooden dowels that the actor lifts when needed. These will sit on the floor between the stairs and the apron.
Backdrops:
These will be draped over our metal frames and changed when needed. More information can be found on the Separate Pieces tab.
Frames:
The two frames were made of metal that are set up on both sides of the stage. They will hold the backdrops and create a more intricate scene. They also help divide the stage visually when we are creating separate scenes.
Ottoman: This forms the head of a makeshift Shays lounge. It was placed upstage right.
Pillows: These are stuffed inside the ottoman and one is used for Potiphar's wife to lounge on.
Bench: The bench is attached to the ottoman for the base of the "chaise."
Table: The table is placed upstage left so that Potiphar can count his money, also helping create the illusion of a "separate" room.
Theatre Cubes: Pharaoh's throne is built out of seven theatre cubes. The two in the back are stacked on top of one another for the "seat" of the throne.
Theatre Cubes: The six brothers each have a theatre cube to sit on. Reuben's cube is set downstage from the others.
Mic: The mic is placed downstage near Reubens's cube and is used for each brother to "perform" during the song.
Theatre Cubes:
These cubes are used for leveling on the stage and are extremely useful for creating structures.
Frames:
The frames that we use are made of metal and are eight feet (L) by ten feet (H). They are used to hold backdrops and separate the stage upstage.

Jail:
Made of wooden dowels and 2x4s, it is eight feet (L) by six feet (H). It is placed center stage.
Backdrops:
Two different backdrops are used on the frames. One is bricks/ stones and is used in Act I until Joseph travels to Egypt. On the "Welcome to Las Vegas" sign, "Las Vegas" is crossed out and changed to Egypt.
