The Recruit Platoon is comprised of Cadet Recruits (CDTRCT) undertaking the Army Cadet Induction Package, supported and mentored by senior cadets. Recruit training spans one year. Senior cadets assisting in this section include Corporals, a Sergeant, and a Cadet Under Officer (CUO).
2 Platoon consists of cadets in their second year of Army Cadets, following the AAC learner continuum. Support is provided by senior cadets from 1 Platoon, including Corporals, a Sergeant, and a CUO. Members of 2 Platoon become eligible to apply for rank.
1 Platoon consists of cadets who have completed two or more years in the program. These members undertake advanced training and take on greater responsibility for leadership and the planning of unit activities and exercises. Within 1 Platoon, there are three specialised sections:
This section comprises senior cadets responsible for delivering first aid during training and exercises. Medics also conduct basic first aid instruction and simulations for recruits, establish field clinics on exercises, and attach personnel to other sections to support unit safety.
The Fieldcraft Section consists of senior cadets focused on developing and teaching field skills such as navigation, roping, site selection, shelter construction, fire lighting, and survival techniques. They deliver practical field training and simulations to recruits and ensure effective field operations.
The HQ Platoon is made up of senior cadets who oversee unit logistics, stores, and administration. They support staff in organising and supervising camps and training parades, manage the unit equipment store (including issue, stocktake, and ordering), and assist with aspects of recruit training such as field command post operations and radio communications (RATEL).
The SLT is made up of the Senior Under Officer (a CUO and Head Cadet), the CUOs of each platoon, and the Company Sergeant Major (Warrant Officer Class 2). This team collaborates within the chain of command to plan and implement all aspects of the Army Cadet program.
