Participation in certain Army Cadets activities may be eligible to fulfil requirements for The Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award. Activities such as weekly parades, the 4-Day Bivouac, and the 6-Day Annual Field Exercise (AFX) may be applied towards various sections of the Award at each level, pending approval.
Claiming Cadet Hours
Pymble Army Cadets can fill multiple sections of The Duke of Ed as follows:
Skills:
Cadets and Cadet Recruits may claim 1 hour for each weekly training parade attended.
Voluntary Service:
Cadets holding a rank or those designated as Senior Cadets can claim 1 hour for each weekly training parade on a case-by-case basis. Please consult your Duke of Ed Co-ordinator.
Adventurous Journey:
Claims can be made for participation in the 4-Day Training Bivouac and the 6-Day Annual Field Exercise (AFX) as follows:
The 4-Day Bivouac may be used to satisfy both the practice and qualifying Adventurous Journey requirements in 'exploration' mode for the Bronze level.
The 6-Day Annual Field Exercise (AFX) can be used to satisfy both the practice and qualifying Adventurous Journey requirements as 'exploration' for the Silver level (or for the Bronze level).
Note: The 4-Day Bivouac and the 6-Day AFX do not meet the requirements for the Gold level.
Gold Residential Project:
Participation in the Senior Leadership Camp may be claimed towards the Gold Residential Project, provided the camp is held over at least five days and four nights. For further information, please contact your Officer Commanding via email at dukes@pymblelc.nsw.edu.au.
