In Year 3 to Year 6, all students attend two Ballet classes a week.
All Ballet students are required to participate in the annual Dance Showcase.
Year 3 (Grade 2) is the first year we consider students for a formal examination. For more information on this please refer to our FAQ page. There are certain College and RAD requirements for specific grades. Please see below:
Any student wishing to be considered for the Examination or Class Award at the end of the year must register for, and consistently attend, the two classes a week.
The Class Award and Examination invitation is at the discretion of the Dance Department and Teacher.
Junior Open Ballet class
Junior Open Ballet is for students who have previous experience in ballet and want to keep up their ballet training with no exam expectations. The benefits of an open ballet class gives students the opportunity to freely explore and develop their classical technique, whilst having the space to move and express themselves creatively. This class is available for students who might not be able to fit in 2 exam classes a week, do not want to sit RAD exams, or want to experience ballet in a more expressive and interpretive classroom setting.
Transition to Pointe Class A compulsory half hour additional transition to pointe class now added for Grade 5 (Year 6).
This class is a compulsory additional for Grade 5 (Year 6) students from 2025. Students will learn strength and conditioning exercises to help their progression onto pointe the following year. The importance of perfecting strength in a young dancers body is crucial for her safety on pointe, and will only progress if it's safe to do so.
