In Year 3 to Year 6, all students attend two Ballet classes a week.
All Ballet students are required to participate in the annual Dance Showcase.
Any student wishing to be considered for the Examination or Class Award at the end of the year must register for the below:
Consistently attend, the two classes a week
Commit to at least one private lesson
Attend October Holiday Syllabus Workshops
Attend the compulsory Mock Exams
The Class Award and Examination invitation is at the discretion of the Dance Department and Teacher.

We are extending our classes to Saturdays, which aligns with the structure of external studios, in turn gives students more time during the week rather than overload the afternoons with multiple classes. This applies to Grade 5 syllabus only.

The Junior Ballet Extension Program is designed for committed students in Grades 4 and 5 RAD who are already demonstrating strong technique and artistry. This invitation based program offers accelerated training to prepare dancers for the demands of secondary level extension pathways.
Through advanced coaching and guided mentorship, students will refine their technique, broaden their artistry, and strengthen both classical and contemporary foundations, building the discipline, confidence, and versatility essential for future opportunities in dance.
Requirements:
Invitation only – students will be contacted by the Dance Department. Students are also able to email a request for the Ballet Co-ordinator to consider.
Grade 4 and 5 students only
Must attend 2 syllabus classes; Junior Ballet Monday 3.45pm; Progressing Dance Technique (PDT) Monday 4.45pm
Students must achieve a minimum of 70% in their previous years Ballet Exam
There will be solos/duos/trios and group competitions as well as Showcase
Students in the Extension Ballet Program will be featured in the 2026 Opera House Classical item for 110 PLC
Terms and Conditions:
Private Ballet Lessons are only available to students who intend to complete an RAD Class Award or Examination this year (Grade 2 to Advanced One).
Lessons cancelled due to events/appointments will be charged in full if notification is not received at least 48 hours prior to the lesson time.
Lessons cancelled due to illness will be charged in full if notification is not received prior to 7.30am on the morning of the lesson.

Students who achieve a high result in their ballet exams will be invited to participate in the prestigious Royal Academy of Dance, the Joan and Monica Halliday Awards. Held at the end of Term 1, the event involves a series of classes and auditions, where dancers compete alongside many other students from across Sydney. This offers dancers a fantastic opportunity to advance their ballet development, gain valuable performance experience, and build confidence in a supportive environment. Open to students who completed their Grades 3, 4 and 5, the Awards foster growth through collaboration with peers and guest teachers, helping dancers refine their artistry and technique while preparing them for future opportunities, including international competitions.
