Ballet Uniform 2026

In 2026, Pymble Dance has partnered with Claudia Dean World to design and produce our new ballet uniform, alongside MDM Dancewear, an Australian-based company known for high quality ballet flats, tights, and jazz shoes.

A full size range of leotards and shoes will be available in studio, allowing your daughter to be fitted and try items on before purchasing.

Please note that ballet leotards, ballet tights, and MDM canvas ballet flats are compulsory and are a strict requirement for end of year RAD Ballet Examinations.

NEW Leotard and Skirt Ordering (Claudia Dean Range):

During the first week of classes, your daughter will try on a leotard size sample in their class time. The selected size will then be ordered by the Dance Department, and you will be charged to your College account with delivery expected towards the end of Term 1, if not earlier.

For students in Pre-Primary to Grade 1, a skirt is compulsory and will be included with the uniform order. Secondary students have the option to purchase an additional skirt; charges will only be applied if a skirt is requested.

NEW Ballet Canvas Shoes (MDM) can be ordered directly through the Dance Department from Week 2, Term 1. For sizing, please visit our reception during the opening hours listed below to try on items, or email dance@pymblelc.nsw.edu.au for assistance.

• Items are dispatched twice a month and the dance department will notify you once they are ready to collect from reception.

Kindergarten to Year 2

Pre-Primary, Primary, Grade 1

Pymble Dance is proud to introduce a new ballet uniform, created exclusively with Claudia Dean World, marking an exciting new chapter for our growing ballet stream.

The new uniform is compulsory for all ballet students. A transition period will apply, allowing the current uniform to be worn while moving into the new pieces. Please note that all students must be in the full updated uniform by Term 4, and all items must be purchased prior to the RAD Ballet examinations.

Character (Grade 1 ONLY)

Character Skirt: The school will provide these through a small annual hire fee. Students will be able to borrow a skirt for lessons when required and for examination day. 

Character shoes: Click the link or visit your local Bloch Store. PLEASE NOTE Character shoes may not be required. You will be notified in Term 2 if your daughter needs Character items.

Year 3 to Year 4

Grade 2 and Grade 3

Proper ballet hair is essential for safe and focused training; students are expected to arrive with a neat bun, and are encouraged to keep a ballet bun kit in their dance bag, which can be purchased at Bloch.

Year 5 to Year 6

Grade 4 and Grade 5

Pointe

Pointe work is introduced with great care at Pymble Dance. Students must not purchase pointe shoes without prior approval from their class teacher, and pointe shoes are strictly not permitted in Intermediate Foundation until the all clear has been given.

Once approved, students will be guided to complete a compulsory pre-pointe assessment with a physiotherapist to ensure a safe and supported commencement on pointe. Progression varies for each student, and pointe work will only begin once sufficient strength, stability, and body awareness have been demonstrated.

Hair

Secondary Extension Classes (Saturdays ONLY)

Students attending Saturday Extension classes may wear any leotard of their choice. Ballet skirts and/or fitted shorts are permitted for Contemporary and PBT classes. All other requirements, including ballet flats, tights, and hair, remain the same.
