Calculators are permitted on some or all sections of certain AP Exams. For these exams, you may use an approved handheld calculator and/or the Desmos built-in calculator through the Bluebook testing application. See the full list of eligible AP Exams and Desmos calculator availability by subject: LINK
The policies for which calculators are allowed or required — and how they can and can't be used — are not changing for the 2025–26 school year. What is changing is the types of Desmos calculators available through Bluebook.
AP Statistics: The built-in Desmos graphing calculator will now be available in Bluebook for the 2026 AP Statistics Exam.
Desmos calculator types by subject: To better align with the needs of each exam, the type of Desmos calculator provided will vary by subject. Depending on the exam, you'll have access to a graphing, scientific, and/or 4-function (basic) calculator. See the full subject breakdown here: LINK
Only certain types and brands of calculators are permitted. See the approved handheld graphing calculator list for permitted and unapproved models. Proctors will check all calculators before the exam begins.
4-function calculators are basic calculators limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, square roots, and percentages.
You may bring up to 2 permitted handheld calculators in addition to the Desmos built-in calculator in Bluebook. Bring calculators you are familiar with and that are in good working order.
You cannot share calculators with other exam takers.
You cannot use your calculator to communicate with other calculators.
You cannot use calculator memories to remove test materials from the room. Attempting to take test materials out of the room by any method will result in score cancellation.
If you prefer not to use a calculator, you may take the exam without one.
