Introduction to Finance Technology
Students will learn how to skillfully use the Microsoft Office Suite of applications which is widely used as the business standard. The applications we will be instructing on will be Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. Our end goal is to prepare the students by the end of the school year to obtain their Microsoft Office Specialist certificate through special CTE Funding. These exams usually run $100 per student, but is included as a value added benefit of the class to help students better distinguish themselves in the competitive marketplace.
Microsoft Word is the word processing application that students will learn to create professionally formatted letters, reports, and communications and integrate multi-media seamlessly into documents.
Microsoft Excel is the spreadsheet application where students will learn how to create documents in table format that utilize functions and formulas. The goal is to develop spreadsheets that format, organize, and analyze data in real-time such as sales reports, balance sheets, and financial statements.
Microsoft PowerPoint is a slide show application where students will create and share presentations that include text, images, art, audio, and video.
Microsoft Access is a database program which we will spend time learning the basics of building database tables, creating relationships between the tables, and running queries to provide data analysis information efficiently. This education will be helpful in the basic understanding of enterprise applications such as Oracle, MySQL, IBM, Mongo, and MS Azure.
