According to Google, May Day's history is a blend of ancient celebrations and modern labor movements. While rooted in ancient spring festivals and pagan traditions, it became a significant date for labor activism, particularly after the Haymarket Affair in Chicago. It is now observed everywhere as International Workers' Day, a day to celebrate workers' rights and solidarity. May Day celebrations also explore the freedom and liveliness that spring brings all over the world.
