The 2021 Pride of Paradise had huge success with our fun show theme, "Knights of the Round Table," a King Arthur Themed show that received first place and various caption awards at the 2021 Youngker High School Band Festival!! The PVHS Marching Band and Color Guard rehearses 1st block during the school day during the Fall semester, in addition to Monday and Thursday evenings from 5:30pm-8:30pm. Percussionists should register instead for our 5th Block Percussion class, but if they have room in their schedule, are also welcome to join the 1st Block Marching Band class. No audition required. Course enrollment required.  

The PVHS Concert Band is the counterpart to Marching Band in the Spring, and rehearses during 1st block during the Spring semester.  The concert band performances 3-5 times per semester, and focuses on both staples of the concert band repertoire, in addition to contemporary music. The Concert Band performs a Chamber Concert in March, and a themed concert in May. In our May concert, the Concert Band will combine with the Spring Orchestra Ensemble to create a full Symphony Orchestra. No audition required. Course enrollment required.

- District Honor Band, Regional, and All-State events as well as the Spring Musical all take place during Concert Band Season.

The PVHS Jazz Ensemble is one of the premiere performing ensembles at PV, and is the only PVHS Instrumental Ensemble that meets all-year.  This course offerings is a Zero-Hour Course that meets from 6:40am-7:23am every day before school.  This course offers students the opportunity to explore: how to play in a jazz style, how to improvise on their instrument, and the history of jazz as a musical medium. The PVHS Jazz Ensembles gives special performances in December and an end-of-the-year Evening of Jazz. No audition required. Course enrollment for the full school year is required.

PVHS is proud to feature exclusively live student musicians in our pit orchestra to accompany the Drama Department's Spring Musical Production.  In 2022, the PV Pit Orchestra made its theatrical return to in-person musicals with an incredible production of Disney's "Tarzan!" In the recent years, students have provided live music for "Shrek the Musical," "The Wizard of Oz," "The Little Mermaid," and "Beauty and the Beast."  Musicals take place near the end of April. Rehearsals will begin in January, and will take place after school 2-3 days per week. Audition required. Course enrollment not required.

The PVHS Basketball Band performs at sporting events during the Spring Semester.  The PVHS Basketball Band will perform at select Boys and Girls Home Basketball Games throughout the months of January - February.  No audition required. No course enrollment required.

Many students enrolled in the PV Instrumental music program also participate in many extracurricular ensembles.

PV music students have also served with many middle and elementary school youth groups. In the 2023 spring semester, many of our students have donated their time to help young musicians with both the PVUSD Encore Ensemble and Horizon Indoor Winds.
