Please read EVERY night for 20 minutes.   Reading Logs go home on Monday and are due each Friday. Please make sure your child reads a book with their level, but it may be of any genre.  I want to them to enjoy learning each night. Students should also practice their Wordly Wise words and math as needed.  I may assign alternative homework as needed on an individual basis.

Reminder:

*homework may be changed due to shortened weeks or special projects.

*Reading with your child can be  a mixture of silent reading, reading aloud together, or them reading to you.

If your child is absent, I will leave any important work for them.  There is no need to ask for work unless I reach out to you.

Grammar and Vocabulary Test - Fridays

(unless shortened week)

I will switch between our 4 Level Grammar and Wordly Wise

Grading Policy:

90-100%                E

80-89%                 S

70-79%                  P

69% and Below         N

If you notice a (+), your child earned  all the points for the assignment.  For assessments, you will see a score at the top of your child's paper with the number correct over the total number of items.   Papers are passed back weekly, or depending on when they are assigned.

Mastery:

I grade to mastery to allow students to learn from their mistakes and better understand the lesson for the future.   If a student scores 60% or lower, I will allow them to correct the problems missed with me during small group time.  They must fix the items missed, and describe their steps with me.  I will then average the original score and new score for an updated score.

Missed Assignments:

For every day missed, your child is given a day to make-up the assignments missed in class as needed.  For example, if a student misses two days, they are given two days to make-up any assignments.  Students have time to make-up missed work during enrichment and silent reading. Depending on the assignment, students may complete with me when they return. I understand there are special circumstances, if you are in need of more time, please contact me.  Also, please feel free to ask for work if you know ahead of time your child will be out of school.
