Artist Spotlight #4 - Buddy System
McKenzie Gaskill '27
Congrats to McKenzie Gaskill ’27 for being featured in our PVI Artist Spotlight!
McKenzie's piece, Buddy System, portrays two fish she saw in a pet store. She explains that she wanted to make this piece to "show how these fish are as beautiful [as those that are] showcased in an aquarium."

Lukas Broadwell '27
Congrats to Lukas Broadwell ’27 for being featured in our PVI Artist Spotlight!
Lukas’s piece, Villa, draws heavily from classic styles. Through such styles, Lukas explains that he wanted this piece to “[embody] a serene elegance that is both classic and modern.”

Malena Pereira Sivulka '27
Congrats to Malena Pereira Sivulka ’27 for being featured in our PVI Artist Spotlight!
Malena’s piece, Brunch, is inspired by the memories she has in Europe with her dad and brother. Mixing realistic Fauvism with her own personal technique, Malena explains that she loves and cares about this painting especially because “no one else can [portray this memory] the way [she does], so it is special to [her].”

Artist Spotlight #1 - Doljabi
Isabel Lee '27
Congrats to Isabel Lee ’27 for being featured in our PVI Artist Spotlight!!
Her piece, Doljabi, is inspired by a Korean tradition celebrating a child’s first birthday. During a doljabi, the celebrated child chooses from symbolic objects that symbolize future career paths. Isabel’s artwork portrays a toy stethoscope, a toy gavel, a book, and a ball—items her sister selected during her own celebration. Isabel explains that she chose to paint Doljabi because she “wanted to make something that reflected a part of [her] cultural heritage.”
