Introduction to Art (0.5 CR)
Semester course designed to meet Fine Arts Requirement that emphasizes student drawing, basic elements of design, and color theory.
Studio Art (1 CR)
Full-year course designed for students willing to take risks and believe they possess some technical and creative ability that goes beyond the introductory level, using a variety of drawing media.
Studio Art 2 (1 CR)
Full-year course designed for students who wish to continue developing techniques introduced in Studio Art, exploring new mediums, and working from still lives.
Honors Portfolio Art Portfolio Development (1 CR)
Full-year course designed for students who are seriously considering a career/college in the field of fine arts and need a portfolio for college or later use, receiving one-to-one portfolio instruction.
Dual Enrollment Foundations of Drawing (ART 121) (0.5 CR)
Course offered through Northern Virginia Community College (3 credit college course) that develops basic drawing skills and understanding of visual language through studio instruction of line, proportion, space, perspective, value, and composition.
Dual Enrollment Two Dimensional Design (ART 131) (0.5 CR)
Course offered through Northern Virginia Community College (3 credit college course) that introduces elements and principles of design applied to two-dimensional artworks.
Advanced Placement Drawing (1 CR)
Full-year College Board course for students who have proved themselves hardworking and capable of maintaining the self-discipline required of a working artist throughout their time at PVI. The purpose is to complete an official AP Drawing AP Exam Portfolio.
Students who are consistent and excel in PVI Art for at least two years, as well as are at or above Honors Portfolio Art Portfolio Development, are qualified to be considered for PVI's Art Honor Society and Induction Ceremony!
