Before you apply :
1. Check the Guidelines for Membership Selection and make sure you meet the criteria in every category (see NHS Guidelines on this website). Please note that you must have earned a minimum of 20 hours of documented community service that is diverse in nature such as inside school activties, outside school activties, and leadership opportunties that are all up to date, and listed on Passport for Good.
2. Obtain two letters of recommendation, one from a PVHS teacher and a second one from another teacher or a non-relative adult. For example, leader of scouts, youth group moderator, teacher, coach, guidance counselor, etc.
3. The application should be TYPED and reviewed thoroughly. Your neatness, grammar, punctuation, spelling and writing skills will be taken into consideration and will be a part of the evaluation.
4. Be sure each section of the application is accurate and is a comprehensive representation of your qualifications.
The Faculty Council’s decision is based solely on the contents of your application, so please be sure to include all pertinent information that will assist in making an informed decision.
5. ALL advisor signatures on the application must be original signatures. Thus, photos of signatures that are pasted into the application will NOT be accepted.
6. Be sure the application is submitted by the deadline, using this form. Incomplete or late applications will be disqualified.
7. All applicants will be notified by school email therefore the student must check their student email daily during the NHS application process.
8. Please note, that completion of this application does NOT guarantee acceptance into the National Honor Society.
