Sr Carol Keehan dc President/CEO Mission Services, The Catholic Health Association of the United States of America Since this text is about Dominican contributions to social ethics, one would expect that it would be philosophically and theologically grounded in the scholastic tradition - and it is. It is, additionally, profoundly practical, providing insights into economics, labour efforts, world peace, totalitarianism and bioethics, among other vital contemporary topics. Of particular interest to this reader is the exposition and analysis of two American Dominicans – Benedict Ashley and Kevin O’Rourke – whose ethical contribution has been central to Catholic health care for over forty years. We owe them, and the Dominicans, a great debt of gratitude.
