Ever feel like you’re constantly asking people to volunteer, attend, join, or care—and getting little more than a shrug? Maybe the problem isn’t what you’re asking. It’s how you’re communicating why it matters.
In this interactive session, you’ll discover why facts and information alone rarely move people—and how storytelling and the power of your WHY can. You’ll learn how to communicate from the inside out so people don’t just understand what you do—they feel why it matters and want to be part of it.
Stop asking people to help. Give them a reason to want to.
A Simple Strategic Planning Process to Help Your Post Move Forward with Purpose
Your Post has good people. Good ideas. And no shortage of things that need attention. The problem isn't finding something to work on—it's deciding what matters most and getting everyone moving in the same direction.
X Marks the Spot takes the mystery out of strategic planning and gives your Post a simple, practical process for turning ideas into a plan you can actually use. Through an interactive, hands-on process, you'll identify where you want your Post to be in the next three to five years, determine what needs to happen in the next 12 months, assign responsibility, establish measurable outcomes, and bring it all together in an X-Matrix—a one-page roadmap for your Post.
You'll also learn how to use your plan to evaluate new ideas and opportunities, stay focused when priorities compete, measure progress, and update the plan year after year.
You don't need a business degree, a 30-page strategic plan, or a Post with hundreds of members. You just need people willing to answer one important question:
Where do we want our Post to go—and what are we going to do to get there?
Whether you're the person who somehow became responsible for your Post's Facebook page or you're wondering why your posts aren't reaching beyond the same handful of members, this session is for you. Social Media Do's, Don'ts & Must-Haves takes the confusion out of building a stronger digital presence — no tech expertise required.
Learn what makes people stop scrolling, see real examples of social media flubs (and how to fix them), and discover free tools that can help your Post look more professional, collect donations, create forms, build a website, and stay organized. We'll also tackle the things Posts often don't think about until there's a problem — who owns your Facebook page, who should have access, intellectual property, and how to properly use The American Legion brand mark and emblem.
You don't need to become a social media expert. You just need to make sure that when your community finds your Post online, they understand who you are, what you do, and why they should want to be part of it.

You Never Know When You Might Be the One Who Can Help.
An opioid overdose can happen anywhere—to a friend, family member, coworker, neighbor, or even a stranger. In those critical moments, knowing what to do can make all the difference.
This hands-on Narcan training takes the fear and uncertainty out of responding to a suspected opioid overdose. You’ll learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, how and when to administer Narcan (naloxone), and what steps to take until emergency help arrives.
You don’t need a medical background. You don’t need to know someone struggling with addiction. You just need to be willing to be prepared.
Because you may never have to use Narcan—but if the moment comes, you’ll be glad you know how.
