Congratulations to our 2024 ACUE GRADUATES!!!
Purdue Global, in partnership with the Association of College and University Educators (ACUE), offers full-time faculty a professional development opportunity as part of our commitment to instructional excellence and student success. Selected Purdue Global faculty members have the opportunity to participate in ACUE’s comprehensive course on Effective Online Teaching Practices (EOTP). This 25-week course prepares faculty in evidence-based teaching practices proven through independently validated research to improve student achievement and close equity gaps. It is delivered fully online with a cohort of Purdue Global colleagues and professionally facilitated by Purdue Global faculty and staff.
The program addresses all of the core competencies defined in ACUE’s Effective Practice Framework© and is organized into five major areas of practice:
Designing an Effective Course
Establishing a Productive Learning Environment
Using Active Learning Strategies
Promoting Higher Order Thinking
Assessing to Inform Instruction and Promote Learning
Faculty who complete the cohort-based program earn a nationally recognized Certificate in Effective College Instruction, the only college teaching credential endorsed by the American Council on Education (ACE). Faculty will also earn digital badges, which can be added to curriculum vitae, used in online teaching portfolios, and displayed on LinkedIn profiles or webpages.
Dr. Tomicka Williams, assistant chair and supervisor of the Purdue Global Public Safety Club, has led students on a successful journey to publishing The Guardianship Journal. The journal was developed in collaboration with the Alpha Phi Sigma Criminal Justice Honor Society, Public Safety, Legal Studies, and the Purdue Global Library and is a result of their innovative approaches to enhance engagement and foster collaboration among faculty and students with practitioners in the field. The first journal publication will be issued in October/November 2024.
The individuals who made the journal possible include Public Safety and Legal Studies team members Dr. Sara Sander, Dr. Richard Niebusch, Aline Major, Tim Kozyra, Matthew Stevenson, Director of Purdue University Global Library, and The Guardianship Journal Editorial Board.
Kristy Crowley has voluntarily served as the Vice Chair for the Porter-Starke Services Foundation board since 2017.
"Porter-Starke Services Foundation board members are integral to the success of Porter-Starke Services as a whole. Foundation Board members assist in all aspects of fundraising, stewardship, and financial support for many Porter-Starke Services programs. Foundation board members serve as advocates in the community, articulating the organization’s mission, accomplishments, and goals to help garner support for our organization. They actively participate in key Porter-Starke Services and Porter-Starke Services Foundation events, including the Valparaiso Turkey Trot and the Living Health, Balance, Hope Symposium, and annually review and award scholarships to graduating high school seniors, eligible Porter-Starke Services staff, as well as their family members."
The mission of this organization is "Enhancing the quality of life by advocating for the behavioral and physical health of our community through fundraising, stewardship, and financial support."
Dr. Bridget Rivera, Academic Department Chair for Psychology, represented Purdue Global and the College of Social and Behavioral Sciences at the Playbook For Enhancing Indiana’s Mental & Behavioral Health Workforce event in Indianapolis. Our Psychology Department, led by Dr. Rivera, provides direct pathways for students to achieve licensure as addiction counselors. As an important piece of the work at the state level to address the mental health worker shortage in Indiana, we are committed to making a positive impact in our community.
The Public Safety Department's events, attended by 50-125 students, alumni, faculty, and industry partners, were a great success. Over six sessions, attendees gained insights into professional writing and publication. At the DNA event, Professor Ted Lagerwall, J.D., presented the Daralyn Johnson case, showcasing how whole genome sequencing transformed a cold case into a closed one.
The Applied Behavior Analysis programs were well represented at the 50th Annual Association for Applied Behavior Analysis International (ABAI) Conference in Philadelphia from May 25 - 27.
Dr. Nelly Dixon and Dr. Susan Wilson presented a poster highlighting the Applied Behavior Analysis Programs at the ‘Behavior Analysis University Training Programs Expo’.
Dr. Meg Kerper also presented a poster titled ‘Reduction Protocol Targeting Significantly Interfering Rumination Behavior.’
Dr. Roxanne Gayle participated in a symposium titled ‘Ethical Considerations Across Fields, Roles and Organizations.’
What our Partners mean to us...
"Every one of our partners shares a mutual and vested interest in serving the professions we prepare our students to enter. We value the relationships between our partners and our students, alumni, and faculty team, and we look forward to continue offering quality programs to meet the needs of our shared community."

Self-paced program to meet your goals
Flight instruction opportunities upon obtaining the instructor rating

Our program is a pay-as-you-go program so there are no set requirements and training gates that send you to a checkride before you are prepared like other programs. Some programs will send you for a checkride knowing you are not prepared because that is how their programs are set up. This costs more money, time and a failure in your training history. We don’t send our students for their checkride until we know they are well prepared. Our experience has shown that most of our students that have started from zero flying experience all the way through their instrument rating and commercial license have accomplished this for under $65,000.
