Presenter Resources
Your success in presenting lies not only in the quality of the presentation you develop and deliver but also in making sure all logistics are in order.
Live Sessions
Sessions are 30-35 minutes of presentation and audience interaction with 10-15 minutes of Q&A (45 minutes total).
Presenters will have access to use Zoom meeting tools during their session, including screen sharing, polls, a separate Q&A entry area, and more.
Connection
A hardwired or high-speed internet connection should be used, if possible, for a problem-free experience
Avoid sharing your connection with other users during the presentation, as this may cause issues
Please review the Zoom system requirements for information on supported browsers, minimum OS requirements, and more.
Audio/Video
Audio-capable equipment is required, including a headset with a microphone.
Avoid using built-in microphones if possible, as they can cause audio issues.
Present from a quiet space with minimal outside noise and disturbances.
If using a webcam during your presentation, be mindful of your attire and background. The option to use a virtual background is available.
Best Practices
Visuals
Images serve to underscore the conference theme and the presentation content
Complementary colors schemes and appropriate PowerPoint themes (or Google Slides for posters) are used (For help with PowerPoint, consider this resource from our library)
Images are visually appealing and not in violation of U.S. copyright law, FERPA, or academic and professional ethics standards

Slide transitions and animations are not recommended for live session presentations
Integrity
Copyrighted material is used with written permission when required. Documentation must be provided with your presentation submission (review information and resources on copyright)
High-quality source materials are used (within the last 3 years for books, 5 years for journals, peer-reviewed, landmark or seminal studies for the field). Low-quality source material such as Wikipedia and other undocumented, non-vetted resources are avoided
Sources are cited consistently and correctly, both in-text citations and references page(s)
FERPA (student privacy) and other applicable policies are adhered to during the presentation and within the presentation materials
Please follow university guidelines for the use of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI). The use of any AI-generated content should be properly documented and cited in the presentation materials.

Posters, Audio/Video Presentations, and Podcasts
For posters, audio/video presentations, and podcasts, please consider these additional recommendations:

Presenters implement effective asynchronous engagement strategies and leave the audience with additional resources to be explored independently
Presentation materials are provided in an accessible format. Review information about accessibility guidelines.
