PS545: Industrial/Organizational Field Placement
The field placement in industrial/organizational psychology is designed to prepare graduate student clinicians by extending the program’s didactic and classroom-based experiential components to produce an increasingly sophisticated learning experience. The field placement is designed to integrate academic knowledge with practical experience, and prepares the student for future training in professional psychology.
Quarter Credit Hours: 5 | Prerequisite: None
By the end of field placement, you should have an understanding of the following:
• Survey and performance appraisal–developing, administering, interpreting, and scoring
• Recruiting and hiring host
• Training and evaluating
• Data analysis
• Team leadership and motivational strategies
The role of the industrial and organizational psychology practitioner within the organization is as follows:
• Ethical considerations and guidelines
• Quality enhancement
• Work process improvement and organizational systems analysis
• Workforce development
• Productivity and safety improvement
• Human resource management
At the end of your first concentration course in the program, you will begin the field placement process reviewing information about your rotation. The "Securing Your Site" section of this handbook provides you detailed information regarding the steps you will take to secure your fieldwork site.
Once all of your fieldwork documentation is approved in CORE ELMs you will be approved to register for the fieldwork course.
