Legal Education Experience Program (LEEP)
The Legal Education Experience Program (LEEP) elective provides upper division students with the opportunity to gain legal or legal-related experience for their résumé, as well as useful contacts for future employment.
Eligible students must be in good academic standing: JD students must have a minimum 2.5 CGPA, and EJD students must have a minimum 2.0 CGPA. Students must have completed CL727 (Legal Analysis & Writing) and CL730 (Electronic Legal Research), and must have completed or be enrolled in CL740 (Modern Law Practice). Students must also have space for 2 law elective credits and receive approval from the Director of Externships. LEEP requires a weekly commitment of 5–7 hours, structured to fit into your schedule without being burdensome.
Students are encouraged to secure their own in-person or remote placements; while the program can assist, placement cannot be guaranteed. All students must have a confirmed placement before the first day of the term—otherwise, the class will be removed from the schedule, and students will need to register for an alternative course with their Advisor.
