Research plays a vital role in discovering, applying, and validating new knowledge, as well as generating useful technologies. Therefore, it is essential for an educational institution to have a well-established research and development program. This program should align with the priorities identified in the regional and national development plans of agencies like NEDA, DOST, CHED, and others.
The leadership of the institution should be proactive and focused on research and development. They should allocate sufficient and consistent funding for the academic unit each year. Adequate physical facilities, laboratory equipment, and research supplies should be provided. The academic unit should also foster strong research partnerships with various local and international research and development agencies.
