Placer High School has established a Student Advisory Committee in which one student representative is selected by Advisors to be the voice of their class. Each month, students lead an in-class discussion in Advisory to discuss issues on campus that impact students in the areas of our school pillars of CARE (Community, Perseverence, Responsibility, and Achievement).
The purpose of the Student Advisory Council (SAC) is to increase the amount and type of feedback received from the students of Placer High School. Placer has many avenues for student voice to be incorporated into our practice, however, the goal of the SAC is to seek feedback from underrepresented students, or students who may not typically be involved in the mainstream groups or activities on campus. Using our school pillars of Community, Perseverance, Responsibility, and Achievement as an organizational framework, we aim to give a voice (and agency to action) to a cross-section of our student body who may not always have the opportunity to speak up on a day to day basis.
Using a structured protocol, students are able to discuss issues they see on campus, brainstorm solutions, and be a part of fixing the things they see that need remedying on campus.
Students who are interested should see their Advisory Teacher (3rd period) to be a representative for the 2023/2024 school year.
