Reducing Plastic
The first step towards addressing plastic pollution is reducing the plastic that we use. Our coalition prioritizes policies that eliminate plastic we can live without.

Many of our partners are also working with local municipalities to require that restaurants use durable foodware for in-house dining rather than single-use foodware.
Another strategy is to call on companies to reduce their use of plastic.
Since over 40% of all plastic produced is used in single-use packaging, corporations have a vital role to play in plastic reduction efforts.
Effective plastic reduction strategies include:
Eliminate problematic or unnecessary plastic packaging through redesign, innovation, and new delivery models.
Work to make every unit of packaging reusable, recyclable, or compostable and, where possible, also reusable.
Remain transparent about reduction commitments and progress towards those goals.
