CS wraps up Science Month 2021 Celebration

A two-week-long Science Month 2021 Celebration with a theme: "Agham at Teknolohiya: Tugon sa Hamon ng Panahon," administered by the College of Sciences (CS), has officially ended with an awarding and closing program held on September 17, at 2:00 PM thru Zoom meeting and Facebook Live.
The ceremony, hosted by Mr. Larry Caduada, a faculty member of the college, started with an inspirational message from Dr. Elucila M. Sespene, Vice President for Academic Affairs of Palawan State University (PSU), and by giving certificates to the resource speakers, participants, and judges of the different activities such as Webinar Series, Faculty Research Symposium and Student Research Symposium, during the Science Month Celebration.
The different student organizations from the college also announced the winners at their respective events. In the CS-Quiz Bee, conducted by the College Science Government (CSG), John Daryl Homecillo won 1st place, followed by Elpred Vincent Maruel, and Rebekah Lilang for 3rd place. Monica Osia, on the other hand, won the Spoken Poetry Contest of Environmental Science Students Association (ESSA) with her piece entitled, "Kabataan, Padayon". For the TikTok Competition of the Society of Information Technology Enthusiasts (SITE), Queanna Britanny Ibrahim grabbed 1st place and Johnly Clutario for 2nd place. In the Sci-Photography Contest, held by the Young Biologists Association (YBA), the winners are Mae Kristine Mendoza and Daryl Karl Dacallos. David Karl Dacallos also ranked 1st place in the Short Film Competition of the Association of Computer Scientists (ACS) with his work: Usap Tau.
The Compendium, the official student publication of CS, had also announced the winners in their Arts for Sciences contest. The said competition is divided into four categories: Digital Arts Competition, Traditional Arts Competition, Poem Writing Competition, and Short Story Writing Competition.
For Digital Arts Competition, Olive Jane Villaluz won 1st place, Ma. Danica S. Liang and Jashrem Principe ranked 2nd place and John Daryl Homecillo as 3rd place, respectively. Julian Arambulo won 1st place, Kim Solis for 2nd place, and Ydonne H. Orolfo ranked 3rd place in the Traditional Arts Competition. For Poem Writing Competition, Christine Mae Cornel grabbed 1st place, Bernard Box took 2nd place, and Cliff Michael Tenebroso and Ingrid Justine Calma both won 3rd place. Meanwhile, Rebekah Lilang and Monica Osia tied for 1st place, Criza Mae Toledo ranked 2nd and Chessabelle Castelar as 3rd place in the Short Story Writing Competition.
Science Month is an annual celebration held by the College of Sciences to commemorate the importance of science and its contribution to humanity by conducting student and faculty activities. It has been noted that this one of the many activities that can help in overcoming these challenging times.
