In a continuous effort to prepare for the new normal mode of learning and teaching, and to strengthen the capability of teachers, a Faculty Development Program was held last September 25, 2020 at the Instructional Media Center, Teresita Salva Library Building, Palawan State University.
This activity was held in conjunction with the 2020 Science Month Celebration, and provided Faculty Members to uphold the theme as they discussed ways on enhancing their current learning materials, which will benefit both Faculty and especially the Students, in both online and offline means.
Aside from the Faculty who attended the activity both in-person and through online means, the activity was also attended by: Prof. Joy Abueg - CS/CEAT Faculty & Resource Person for Data Privacy, as well as Panel Evaluators: Engr. Jerico Padrones (BPS Faculty), and Prof. Rossana P. Colendra (CTE & Principal of the Laboratory Junior High School). Dr. Mary Alvior, the University's Quality Management Systems Head, also participated in the review of learning materials
In her lecture, Prof. Joy Abueg, the Resource Person for Data Privacy and concurrent member of the Committee for the Development and Implementation of Flexible Learning Options (CODIFLO), have reemphasized the importance of Data Privacy. In the context of the new normal, wherein online modules and online classes have become part of the norm, it is very timely for Faculty Members to be reminded of the safeguards and guidelines given to protect the privacy and cyber-security of both student and teacher. Important reminders on appropriate code of conduct for faculty members, especially in handling such classes, were also given.
From the last week of August to the first week of September, a special training hosted by the University's College of Teacher Education has been held with the purpose of increasing the capacity of Faculty Members, with and without the Education course background. Such training was attended by a select Faculty Members of the College of Sciences.
This program has provided a means whereby 3 representatives from the CS Delegation, can re-echo the said training for the benefit of the College Faculty. The following are the selected representatives, with their topics:

In addition to the lectures from the CPT Participants, the College Faculty have attended numerous webinars last July and August 2020, as well in numerous consultation with the University's Curriculum and Instructional Materials Development Office (CIMDO). To continue the effort of preparing and enhancing the Faculty's readiness, selected representatives from the different departments have presented their syllabus and learning materials from among the subjects that they and their colleagues are currently handling. Such materials were also peer-reviewed by: Mr. Mike Jordan N. Mosquito, Engr. Jerico Padrones, Prof. Rossana P. Colandra and Dr. Mary Alvior.

The experience brought about by these faculty members, along with the comments and suggestions of the peer-evaluators and other co-faculty members, have served as a rich opportunity for everyone to learn with each other in a continuous effort to enhance the Faculty's preparation for the new normal.
The activity was hosted by Mr. Jaybie Arzaga and Dr. Mark Joseph J. Buncag, and was concluded with a closing message of thanks and appreciation by Prof. Reuben Ysmael A. Ganapin, Mathematics Department Chairperson.
