What is THON?

The Penn State IFC/Panhellenic Dance Marathon—known as THON—is the largest student-run philanthropy in the world. Its mission is to conquer pediatric cancer by providing emotional and financial support to children, families, researchers, and staff.

THON is a year-long fundraising and awareness campaign that brings together over 16,500 students across the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, united by one cause: finding a cure for childhood cancer.

The year culminates in THON Weekend, a 46-hour, no-sitting, no-sleeping dance marathon held every February at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. In 2025, THON raised an incredible and record breaking $17.7 million, For The Kids®.

Since its start in 1977, THON has raised more than $168 million for Four Diamonds at Penn State Health Children’s Hospital. Four Diamonds ensures families never see a bill, covering treatment costs not paid by insurance and funding life-saving research. It also supports a comprehensive care team—counselors, social workers, music therapists, and more—who provide personalized care in a family-centered environment.

Women in Business proudly supports THON through a series of creative and impactful fundraisers throughout the year. These efforts connect with alumni, family, friends, and corporate sponsors to help fund pediatric cancer treatment and support families every step of the way.

In 2025, WIB raised a remarkable $35,990.71 for THON! We are committed to continuing the fight against pediatric cancer and working toward a future where every child has the chance to grow up.
